I CAME PREPARED FOR THE JOB AND I’M HAPPY THAT WE HAVE MADE AN IMPACT — CHIDI LLOYD

Chidi Lloyd Has Turned Emohua LGA Into A Working Environment — Ohna Sergeant Awuse

Dr. Lloyd Secures Two Additional Police Divisions For Emohua LGA

The chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, says his preparedness for the leadership of the local government is evident in his achievements from June 2021, when he assumed office as the chairman of the local government, as his administration has rewritten the story about the area within the period under review.

He said his administration was in a hurry to change the narrative about the local government area; hence, it took some painful but very resultful decisions to sanitize the financial system of the local government council and unravel the irregularities in the council voucher that had over the years hindered successive administrations from embarking on capital projects for the development of the area.

Dr. Lloyd stated this at the 2nd edition of his administration’s account of stewardship to the people of Emohua LGA, held at the council secretariat complex on Monday, as the event heralding phase 3 of the harvest of infrastructure projects undertaken by his administration across Emohua LGA.

Elated by his administration’s laudable achievements within two years, Dr. Lloyd said he was happy to hear people say that he had made an impact in the administration of Emohua Local Government Council, which he agrees with very concrete evidence.

He, however, attributed the achievements of his administration to the support of leaders and critical stakeholders in the LGA, as well as the cooperation of the local government legislative assembly, appreciating the leadership caucus of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua LGA for their continuous support and encouragement of the policies and programs of his administration.

The Emohua council boss, while rendering a detailed account of the income received by his administration as federal allocation and internally generated revenue, as well as the expenditures of the local government under his watch, said the account of stewardship is intended to keep the people abreast of the financial activities of his administration, in line with his transparency and accountability policy.

He also noted that his administration had cleared the backlog of entitlements owed former councillors, supervisors, and advisers by the previous administration, promising to ensure that those serving under his administration are not owed any entitlements before the end of his tenure in office.

Dr. Lloyd, while enumerating the array of projects undertaken by his administration within the year under review, ranging from community road construction, healthcare development, water resources, education, power generation, security, and social welfare, promised to ensure that the ongoing construction of Mbere-Omkpova road in Ibaa community, the 5th in the series of community road projects undertaken by his administration, is completed before the end of his tenure, reassuring that his administration will continue to deliver projects till his last day in office.

Speaking further, Dr. Lloyd disclosed that the Inspector General of Police had approved two additional police divisions in Emohua LGA, in line with his administration’s commitment to effectively police the area to improve the security of lives and properties across the LGA.

In his solidarity speech at the ceremony, chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council and paramount ruler of Emohua Kingdom, His Majesty, Sir Ohna Sergeant Awuse, lauded Dr. Lloyd’s commitment to the development and security of the Emohua local government area, stressing that the entire LGA is already a working environment under the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.

His Majesty, who described the account of stewardship by Dr. Chidi as a voluntary service to the people, said it takes a sincere and transparent public office holder to voluntarily render a detailed account of stewardship to the people, as introduced by Dr. Lloyd in Emohua Local Government.

He particularly commended the council chairman for organizing a free medical outreach as a Christmas gift to the people of Emohua LGA, describing the number of lives saved during the medical outreach as one of the greatest achievements of his administration.

The Royal Father, while commending Dr. Lloyd for his efforts towards restoring electricity in Emohua LGA, noted that the misguided youths of the area who previously blamed the council chairman for the power outage in the LGA had come to terms with the reality of the chairman’s efforts, which he said was frustrated by the electricity distribution company, which couldn’t keep to their part of the MoU with the council chairman after receiving full payment of the counterpart gun from the local government.

Ohna Awuse, while rallying support for the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd, maintained that the council chairman had within two years in office displayed his capacity and capability to lead the LGA; hence, he will continue to enjoy the support of the leaders and the majority in the LGA.

The leader of the PDP caucus, Eze Paul Wonodi; the deputy chairman of the party in the LGA, Dr. Jim Morrison; and other notable leaders across the LGA, in their separate remarks, congratulated Dr. Lloyd on his sterling performance and promised to continue to provide the necessary support to the council chairman to enable him to consolidate on the achievements of his administration within the year under review.

Eze Paul Wonodi reiterated that Dr. Lloyd has taken the local government to an enviable height, leaving a very big shoe for whoever that may be.

Jim Morrison urged party members and supporters to remain loyal and committed while waiting for directives from the leadership of the party, as is traditional in the People’s Democratic Party.

Other speakers at the event include former Chief Medical Director of UPTH, Prof. Aaron Ojule; Chief C.I.D. Mmekini; Chief Emmanuel Worukwo; and Rev. Peter Georgewill.

The leader, Hon. Love Nyenke, and members of the Emohua legislative assembly, the secretary of the local government council, Chief Vincent Chukwu, and members of the management committee, as well as the principal offices of the council, joined the chairman at the ceremony.
